Spotlight Saturday - Hers by Dawn Robertson

I am weak.
I am lonely.
I am a slut.
I am strong.
I am Dominant.
I am independent.
I am Seven James.

My entire life, no one has wanted me, and that was fine, because I sure as shit didn't need anyone else. Blah, Blah Blah, insert sad story here about negligent parents, and shitty siblings, and you have my life story in a nut shell. When my college boyfriend dumped me, it was just icing on the cake. Five years, and a booming career later I am here to collect my revenge.

That was until a delicious plaything walked into the kink club I frequent, and rocked my typically un-rockable world. Causing me to break the one rule I have lived by since Daniel Alexander walked out of my life, never have sex with the same person twice. Ever.

Warning!!!! Hers contains sexually explicit situations that may be uncomfortable for some. These include FF, FMF, and MFM interactions.

About this author

Dawn is a woman of many colors. Born and raised in the North-East, the youngest child of three, to two hard working, and extremely dedicated parents, she thrived on her love for creative writing. Her commitment to hard work lead her down a number of career paths over the years, stopping with her love for fiction.

In a bold, and unexpected move, she quit her full-time nine to five gig to thrust herself into her debut erotic novel, Hers.

Dawn is a mother, entrepreneur, and self proclaimed book whore.

About The Author:
I'm a new self-published author who just got introduced to the writing world early 2013. My aunt suggested that I write a story because I'm an avid reader but I waved it off and left it alone. Well this year, a story came to me and I went with it. It took me a little bit but I finally got a story idea that worked and now I can't stop or control the characters/stories that keep popping up in my head.

I'm born and raised in Canada and I live with my very wonderful and supportive husband, Michael. We don't have any children (yet) unless you count our two cats. He's been my rock through this whole new experience for me. I couldn't have done it without him and my friends and family.

One of the many things I love about this new chapter in my life is that I'm learning constantly. It's never a dull moment and as long as one person likes my story, I am happy.

Love Resisted by Melanie Codina Blog Tour

Book 2 - Real Love Series
Melanie Codina

For Allie Baxter, love was never something she had to worry about. She was loved by her friends, her family, her husband … until the day it was ripped away. Losing love was the deepest pain Allie had ever endured, and it was an agony she vowed to avoid feeling ever again. Crippled with guilt over her loss, for five years Allie served her self-appointed exile from the daily comforts offered by friends and family, only to return and attempt to fit herself back into their open arms—even if she knew she didn’t deserve it. Mike Lawson was not something Allie expected; the love of a man was not something Allie was prepared to want. The spark of desire that had long ago died inside her suddenly returned, bringing the memories of her pain with it. She swore she would never allow herself to love again … but how long could love be resisted?

Twitter:  @MelanieCodina

Melanie is an amazing mother of four, an awesome and tolerant wife to one, and nurse to many. If you don’t believe her, just ask anyone in her family, they know what to say. She is also a devoted chauffer, the keeper of missing socks, a genius according to a six year old, the coolest soccer uniform coordinator according to a twelve year old, and the best damn ‘mac-n-cheese-with-cut-up-hot-dog maker in the whole world. Well that last title isn’t really official, but it’s still pretty cool to be called it.

When not being ordered around by any of the kids, you can find her with her nose in a book or on the sideline of a soccer game cheering on one team or another. But that’s mostly because she has a thing for the coach. When she is not doing all of the above, you can find her obsessed with a group of fictional characters all vying for a spot on the page of whatever she’s working on. It’s a fun and crazy life to lead, but wouldn’t have it any other way

Melanie Codina and her family will be donating $1 for each book of Love Resisted sold during the month of October.

GENERAL QUESTIONS FOR ALL AUTHORS (Please choose 20 and remember—be as wordy as you like J)

1.      What inspired you to start writing?
Firstly, one of my favorite past time when I was in high school was reading and from reading, I became interested in writing. Writing was a hobby at first and for a long time which led me to gradually writing professionally. Secondly, I write because of the way it makes me feel - happy. I love the playfulness of words and the sky is the limit when I write, there are no boundaries and I feel free.
5.      Who is your favorite author and why?
Philippa Gregory. She writes with such immense detail and she is a very careful writer-she does not want her readers to miss anything. I am all about detail..
6.      What, in your opinion, are the most important elements of good writing?
The details in telling a story. I truly believe in painting a scene with words.
10.  Are you working on anything at the present you would like to tell us about?
I don’t think there is a time that I am not working on something. Yes, my next children’s book called Emily-Rose’s Day At The Farm which will be released later on this year-God willing!
11.  What are you reading now?
Philippa Gregory’s The Virgin’s Lover
15.  Describe your writing space.
Small but quaint, quite and comfortable.
16.  What is the hardest part about writing for you?
Many-a-times, I know what I want to say, but somehow it did not come out in the same way on paper and it can get a bit frustrating.
19.  What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Oh, that’s easy. Reading or watching a movie, I am a big movie buff.
26.  What is your favorite food? Least favorite? Why?
My favourite is West Indian, Chinese and Italian.

My least favourite is Seafood with the exception of Red Snapper fish and Salmon.
33.  If you had to do your journey to getting published all over again, what would you do differently?
Budget, budget and budget; you can never really have enough money as a self-publisher. Also, I would market my book(s) at least two months prior to it’s publication release date.
34.  Ebook or print? And why?
I am old fashion, so print for me because there is nothing like curling up on the couch holding an actual book and turning the pages with anticipation.
35.  How do you keep your writing different from all the others that write in this particular genre?
Again, it’s all about detail for me. I stress about detail a lot because when I read a book, article or Newspaper, I look for the details, and it is what hooks me to the piece/story/novel until I am done reading it -that to me is good writing.
I aspire to be able to hold the readers attention until they have finished reading my book without even knowing it.
36.  What is one thing your readers would be most surprised to learn about you?
I can be quite comical.
37.  What are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you ever received?
Regarding the best advice, it was suggested that I join a book club who can give me constructive criticism.
46.  If you were to write a series of novels, what would it be about?
I am a girlie girl, so probably about romance.
50.  What are you passionate about these days?
Living a healthy, peaceful life and, of course, writing. I have been writing everyday for several weeks, my finger tips are starting to hurt.
54.  What makes you happy?
God! He looks beyond my faults and sees the greatness in me as well as my family, loved ones and true friends.
57.  Do you have a favorite quote or saying?
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, hence, why I love Kelly Clarkson’s song.
59.  What is something you'd like to accomplish in your writing career next year?
Becoming a best-seller, so with that being said, I am declaring it and believing it and putting it out there now.
62.  What is something that you absolutely can't live without? (Other than family members)
Hehe… FOOD! My bff calls me a foodian, which means I am great lover of food.
67.  Favorite color?
68.  Weather: Hot or cold?
Give me hot any day.
69.  Favorite place to read?
By the lake, there is a calmness/tranquility by the water. It helps me to relax and to de-stress.
